mobiBLU unwraps nano-killer

UltraSlim 2 to come in 1, 2 and 4GB capacities - and it's as thin as Apple's micro-iPod.

mobiBLU has revealed a new MP3 player craftily designed to steal the iPod nano's thunder. The US2 (which stands for UltraSlim 2) is a brushed aluminium sliver with a depth of as little as 6.8mm - which is the merest shade under the the nano's 6.9mm depth. Oh, and if you look at it and squint a bit, it even looks a bit like the iconic Motorola RAZR V3 - surely a conscious decision in the mobiBLU design department.

The device has a 1.5-inch colour OLED screen, upon which it can display photos and (here's where it trumps the nano again) video. It will also have a voice recorder and SRS WOW audio enhancement.

There's no word on a UK release date or pricing just yet, but we do know that it'll be coming in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB varieties.
