Microsoft opens Windows 8 upgrade registration

Customers can now register their interests for Microsoft's next-gen desktop operating system

Purchasers of Windows 7 PCs have a chance reserve their copy of Windows 8 early, with the company offering a promotional upgrade for a mere £14.99

Windows 7 users have until February 28 2013 to get the promotional update, which they can claim by providing their 25 digit Windows 7 product key.

Microsoft will begin to send out promo codes to applicants from October 26. The codes can then be used at the online checkout when purchasing the Windows 8 upgrade.

The offer was announced back in May, stating that anyone who purchased an eligible Windows 7 PC between June 2 2012 and January 31 2013 will be able to get their hands on the new OS at a reduced price.

Windows 8 will be officially released on October 26, however, the OS was made available to developers since August 15.
