Microsoft Kinect, which will bring controller-less motion controlled gaming to the home was officially priced last week by Microsoft alongside the news that it would be accompanied by the arrival of a newly designed 4GB Xbox 360 console.

Available as a standalone accessory, Microsoft Kinect is set to cost wannabe users £129.99 when it is launched in time for the pre-Christmas shopping rush. Packaged with the new 4GB Xbox 360 console, Kinect will set customers back just £249.99.

This standalone price has caused quite a stir amongst gaming fans who are disheartened by Kinect’s lofty price tag. Although Microsoft has officially defended Kinect’s pricing, a number of industry experts are predicting that the gaming accessory will come down in price following the Christmas period and initial launch rush to below the £100 mark.
