Marks & Spencer, the legendary British retailer and purveyor of irritating yuletide ads, says this weekend will see the busiest mobile shopping hour of the festive season.
The retailer expects three hits every second on its mobile site as shoppers turn to the convenience of mobile shopping from the safety of the sofa. With the busiest hour likely to be 8-9pm on Sunday during the X Factor live final.
Mobile sales over the last year have doubled at M&S, as customers turn towards smartphones and tablets to fill their baskets.
“Mobile shopping is quick, discreet and ultra convenient. Customers can shop whilst doing everything else they need to do to get ready for the busiest time of year," said Laura Wade-Gery, executive director of multi-channel E-commerce at M&S.
"Sunday evening is the perfect opportunity - as customers up and down the country settle down in front of the TV with a mobile or iPad in hand."
