The new products, including both speakers and headphones, will come under Logitech’s Ultimate Ears (UE) range and were announced today at IFA 2012. Particular highlights include the Logitech UE Boombox speaker and Logitech UE 9000 headphones.
Logitech has been a fixture of the audio accessories scene for a good while now, and the company has said it is aware of changing trends in how we consume our music.
“Today’s fans have their music with them wherever they go – they carry it with them on their tablet or smartphone,” said Rory Dooley, Logitech senior vice president of music.
The Logitech Boombox speaker will play music from your smartphone or tablet from up to 15 metres away and boasts a six-hour rechargeable battery. A smaller version, the Logitech Mobile Boombox, has also been unveiled with a slightly longer 10-hour battery life. The two speakers will come with a suggested retail price of £199 and £79 respectively.
On the headphones front, the Logitech UE 9000 headphones feature a good looking, around-the-ear design and active noise cancellation. Although the thumping £199 price tag might prompt you to look at the rest of the UE line-up.
Arriving at £169, the Logitech UE 4000 headphones are baby brother to the 9000 but will still offer you comfy on-ear cushions and that all-important active noise cancellation. Meanwhile, the Logitech UE 4000 headphones, clocking in at £79.99, will offer you a compact alternative.
Bringing up the rear is the Logitech UE Smart Radio – a dedicated digital radio with a colour LCD screen and six hours of continuous playback. Better yet, you can download the controller app for iOS or Android and change stations from the comfort of your own smartphone. The Logitech UE Smart Radio should arrive with a £149 price point.
