Logic3 launches the Valve80 audio system
Chunky vintage sound for a slimline price
Watch out Fatman, there's a altogether more slimline valve audio system on the horizon. Well, at least when it comes to price.
Instead of shelling out the best part of 500 notes for a Fatman, the Logic3 Valve80 comes in at a more modest £299, but still claims to offer a warmth and depth of sound you'll only find in a valve-based system. If looks are important to you, what could be more eye-catching than a shiny metallic plinth and a pair of glass valves? And if you want to shake a few walls, the Valve80 certainly punches above its weight, knocking out up to 80w of distortion-free output.
It pretty much covers all bases for connectivity too, with a housing for your iPod on top and room for everything from a TV and CD player to a pair of vinyl decks on the back, the latter a must-have if you're really looking for authenticity. You might want to do a sound test at your local audio dealer before parting with your cash, but if the Valve80 lives up to the billing, it could well be a heavyweight challenger this Christmas.
