LG is set to unveil a number of Windows 8 handsets, according to a Korean news website
The Korea Times has reported that LG is planning on creating a number of Windows 8 phones over the course of 2013.
The website claims a (not surprisingly) unnamed LG Executive, said: “We will release quite a number of new Optimus devices this year an LG also has some new smartphones in the works that will run Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8.”
Also rumoured isLG’s plan to reveal a 5.5-inch full HD smartphone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month.
LG recently revealed its sales figures for the past few months; shipping some 15 million phones from October to December.
If the move goes ahead, it will see LG join the likes of HTC, Nokia, Samsung and Huawei who have all released phones carrying the Windows 8 operating system possibly boosting its popularity.
Of course, without an official announcement it remains merely a rumour; however it would certainly make sense to bring out a handset for those preferring Windows 8 after the roaring success of LG’s Nexus 4 which runs the Android OS.
Predictably, G.W. Kim, the company’s spokesman has declined to comment.
