LG steam washing machine turns green - literally

LG's steam washing machine is the greenest

To mark Energy Saving Week (that's this week folks), LG has commissioned a limited run of green Steam Direct Drive washing machines. The 9kg eco-friendly machine already boast the greenest credentials around, saving 35 per cent on water and 21 per cent on energy to bag it an A++ energy rating from the Energy Saving Trust.

Just five of the green machines have been made and you can snaffle one for free if you win on the Sky News website. Alternatively, you can pick up the regular 9kg Steam Direct Drive in glossy black or silver from normal outlets for £799 (£599 in plain white).

LG rocked the laundry world when it first unveiled its revolutionary washing machines. By using a cheeky injection of steam into the wash, the LG machine can slash washing times, save energy and even de-wrinkle your clothes. The 9kg version is the latest incarnation and it uses a contoured drum to gently tumble your threads and a direct drive mechanism that does away with the old and inefficient belt drive setup.

They only made five of these!?!
I think it'd look good in orange too.
