Korean tech giant LG has officially unveiled the latest addition to its range of Optimus smartphones in the LG Optimus Sol, an Android 2.3 handset with a 3.8-inch display.
Measuring up at an ultra thin 9.8mm thick the LG Optimus Sol hosts a 3.8-inch Ultra AMOLED display for crystal clarity even in direct sunlight with a 1GHz single core processor landing alongside a 5-megapixel rear-mounted camera.
“The Optimus Sol stands out from its competitors as the most affordable 1GHz Android smartphone with an AMOLED display,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
Making use of an enhance “idle-based power management system” the Optimus Sol features a battery life extended by 20 to 30 per cent with the usual array of Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity options as standard.
Whilst an exact LG Optimus Sol UK release date or pricing has yet to be unveiled the Android 2.3 Gingerbread handset will hit European markets next month. The device will be made available in black, white and ‘Titan’ colour schemes.
