The LG Optimus 4X HD has been given an official release date in June for the UK, with the company promising that it will roll out the device across Europe, followed by countries in Asia, CIS, South and Central America in the coming months.
The Optimus 4X HD was officially announced by LG at the Mobile World Congress in February and joined the Huawei Ascend D Quad as the latest handsets to pack double the processing power.
LG's first quad-core smartphone was first outed on the company's website in early February but was given an official airing in Barcelona. It joined the Huawei Ascend D Quad as the latest high-powered handsets on the market.
Packing some monster specs this Ice Cream Sandwich iPhone 5 rival was unveiled at LG's launch event in Barcelona.
LG Optimus 4X HD Specs
Under the hood you'll find a mammoth 1.5GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor all of which will then be aided by 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
Displaying all this power is a 4.7-inch 1280x720p IPS True HD screen which not only puts it directly in line to rival the current Samsung Galaxy Nexus but will also make it the second handset to have a true HD screen.
LG have made the decision to go with Android Ice Cream Sandwich as the operating system marking it as their first ICS smartphone straight out of the box.
On the back you'll find what appears to be a 8MP snapper with a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video calls etc, no word as yet on what other functions the camera will have.
LG Optimus 4X HD features
The LG Optimus 4X HD features advanced 'Companion Core' technology developed by LG which reduces the number of processing cores it uses when operating small tasks such as web browsing or texting.
However, when tasks such as HD movie playback or gaming are in operation the smartphone will then utiise the full quad-cores, thus saving on battery.
In addition you'll also find MHL (Mobile High Definition Link) and DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) connectivity which will make outputting high-definition video even easier.
LG Optimus 4X HD release date
The LG Optimus 4X HD will be release in Europe next month which would put it directly in line to compete with other handsets such as the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple iPhone 5.
