Update: LG's Optimus 4X HD is now available to pre-order
The LG Optimus 4X HD will go head-to-head with the current top-of-the-range Android offerings from HTC and Samsung - such as the Galaxy S3.
LG Optimus 4X HD: Features
The battery will power an almost retina-like display and the 16:9 ratio of the 4.7-inch True HD IPS screen provides a high-clarity viewing experience that's on par with the S3.
The device runs on the latest iteration of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich - although LG has added a few of its own features including voice activation for the 8-megapixel camera.
On the subject of the snapper, it has all the usual features to be expected from a premium Smartphone including LED flash, face and smile detection, 1080p video capture and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing shooter for the endless amount of video-calls that all phone manufacturers seem to think we're making.
Users can also share the results (for better or for worse) via Facebook, email or Bluetooth. The process looks quick and painless and is a great way to share your inner-Spielberg or nonsensical doodlings with friends, critics claim.
It also comes equipped with CSR's location awareness and power-saving SiRFstarV technology, which the company claims takes "location and navigation to the next level for an enhanced user experience."
LG Optimus 4X HD: Release date
The LG Optimus 4X HD is available to pre-order now. A handset-only price is not yet available, however, consumers can snag it for free on a monthly contract from Phones4U, starting from £26 per month.

We're working to fix the problem right now and will have it working as soon as possible
