LG Optimus 3D release date confirmed by retailer

Carphone Warehouse to be launch partner of Optimus 3D

LG and Carphone Warehouse have teamed up to launch the 3D capable LG Optimus 3D exclusively through the highstreet retailer on July 7th

Carphone Warehouse has confirmed it is to be the exclusive launch partner of the LG Optimus 3D offering the 3D pocket blower on pre-order now ahead of a July 7th release date.

Running Google’s Android 2.2 FroYo operating system at launch ahead of a 2.3 Gingerbread update the LG Optimus 3D, as its name suggests, boasts a glasses-free 3D stereoscopic display that, like the Nintendo 3DS, allows users to view 3D content on the go.

Available free on a £35 per month contract or as a standalone SIM-free device for £499.95, the LG Optimus 3D, which touts a 1GHz dual-core processor and 3D capable dual cameras on the rear, will be available exclusively in the UK for a currently undisclosed period through Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy.

"We're proud to be able to offer the world's first 3D smartphone exclusively at The Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy,” announced the Chief Commercial Officer at Carphone Warehouse, Graham Stapleton. "It is a remarkable piece of technology and I'm confident that our customers will be as impressed and excited as we are."
