KEF's iPod blaster

Top-end hi-fi gurus look set to destroy all-comers with Picoforte One.

KEF has waded into the white plastic planet of the iPod speaker dock with the Picoforte One Music System. The high-end hi-fi master is declaring war on 'poor plastic tat', with its Apple-friendly offering in full die-cast Zinc.

The 16cm full-metal speakers fire out 25W of hearty noise, so we suggest you pair them with some suitably garish metal noise. Perhaps a spot of Whitesnake or Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.

If you're not packing a 'Pod, you can always hook up your MP3 player courtesy of the 3.5mm jack. Plus you'll find a handy S-Video slot for displaying tune titles on screen, or even vids if your iPod's so inclined.

There's also a credit card size remote so you don't need to lift your weary backside to beef up the sound. It's due next month for £250. Cheap at the price considering its KEF credentials.
