Japanese man arrested after using iPod Nano for an upskirt video

Who knew an MP3 player could be so contentious?

After last week's reports that a US gym has banned the new iPod Nano due to fears some iron-pumping, slimming drink-guzzling perverts could use them for sick, nefarious purposes such as filming fellow gym bunnies getting changed, the news that a Japanese man has been arrested over a spot of upskirt filming doesn't come as any surprise at all.

What's surprising, in fact, is that it took several weeks of the Nano being on sale until such an arrest took place. Apparently the unnamed name from Kobe, Japan, hid the Nano in his shoe, and somehow filmed up an 18 year old girl's skirt, presumably by walking very close by her in the bookstore where he was caught.

The messageboard which brought the issue to light saw a flood of comments about the news story, with one user posting "Giving a country like Japan a small, easily concealable video camera is like giving a 5 year old fireworks", going on to say "It should have become clear by now that unreasonable proportion of Japanese men can't control themselves from doing perverted and voyeristic acts and that putting out such devices in Japan is like add fuel to the fire."

Whether Japanese men can control themselves or not is an issue we're not willing to address, however we would like to know if he at least indulged in the use of one of the 15 available video filters. Thermal, perhaps?
