It's official - new iPods!
It was worth the wait - Apple's eye popping new players already have us dusting off our wallets.
True to our predictions-this morning -Apple went ahead and unveiled brand new iPods and redesigned nanos today boosting more hard disk space, increased battery capacity and brighter screens.
The new iPods feature 30 and 80-gig drives, while new software across the line brings new games, faster searching and better scrolling.
As expected , the new nanos come in a range of colours and with metal shells. The tiny players are thinner than the original and now come in 2-gig, 4-gig and 8-gig varieties.
They're available in blue, pink, green, silver and black, although the smallest version is only available in silver, while the largest comes in black alone.
The new nano's battery life is perhaps the most surprising improvement, and keeps kicking for a full 24 hours.
The shuffle also got an update today, shrinking down to become the smallest MP3 player in the world. It's the size of an Apple radio remote for the full sized iPod and comes in aluminium, but is available in 1-gig only. The new shuffle starts shipping next month.
To go with the new iPods, Apple has released an updated version of iTunes and yes, it lets you buy movies too.
The new version lets you organise music by album cover, and will download cover art for albums without it for free.
There's improved management of video files too, and TV shows purchased through the program are encoded at 640x480 - that's 4x the quality of previous offerings, while movies come in with surround sound and near DVD quality.
