iPhone a smartphone?
Apple's poised to unleash not one, but two versions of the fabled iPhone next year, and one will be the smartest phone ever!
According to the investment experts at Prudential, Apple's long-awaited iPhone will come in two flavours - one designed to be thin and sporting an iPod-branded music player, and another with a full keyboard and smartphone skills.
We reckon the music phone will be akin to a nano in size.-In fact, we've already seen patents from Apple for a mobile device designed to match the pint-sized player.
As for the smartphone, this could be where Apple really plays its trump card.
The last few months have seen the Cupertino firm patenting mobile technologies like they're going out of fashion.
Apple's laid claim to everything from multi-touch screens to integrated display cameras and mobile video chat. What's more, their latest registered trademark is none other than that of iPhone itself.
If the rumours are true, Apple's smartphone will come toting Wi-Fi too, and almost certainly sync seamlessly with all the familiar iLife programs.
It's an optimistic outlook from Prudential, who are understandably cagey about their sources. One thing's for sure though, if the predictions are correct, January's Macworld 2007 will be the most exciting date in our new year's diary!
