Apple is expected to launch its iPhone 5 handset in September with a new slimmer, lighter form factor
iPhone 5 rumours: Slimmer, lighter form factor incoming
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5 handset is to land sporting a slimmer and lighter form factor than its predecessor the iPhone 4, new reports have suggested.
Reputable news outlet the Wall Street Journal has claimed that the iPhone 5 will be “thinner and lighter” than previous models whilst sporting a widely expected 8-megapixel camera and September release date.
Quoting sources at component suppliers, WSJ suggest that in the midst of a legal battle with the Korean tech giant Apple’s next-generation smartphone will do away with the current breed of Samsung CPUs instead opting for a Qualcomm produced processor. Heading for a predicted September release, recent reports have suggested Apple has order 15 million iPhone 5 handsets for launch.
"Apple's sales estimates of the new iPhone is quite aggressive,” one supplier told the WSJ. “It told us to prepare to help the company meet its goal of 25 million units by the end of the year. The initial production volume will be a few million units... we were told to ship the components to assembler Hon Hai in August."
