Speaking with news house Reuters, three anonymous sources reportedly “familiar with the matter” have confirmed the next-generation Apple blower will forgo the now traditional June iPhone unveiling, instead landing alongside the iPod refresh in September.

Whilst it is unknown what is causing this delay in the iPhone 5’s arrival and why Apple will overlook its annual product cycle, a dramatic makeover has been ruled out as the sources claim “The new smartphone will have a faster processor but will look largely similar to the current iPhone 4.”

It is widely expected that the Apple iPhone 5 will follow the recently released iPad 2 in sporting the ARM A5 1GHz dual-core processor despite Apple’s main competitors to the smartphone crown, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S II and HTC Sensation both lined up to boast 1.2GHz dual-core CPU offerings.
