Usually coinciding with the arrival of the latest edition iPhone, it is expected that this year’s conference will follow suit with the widely expected Apple iPhone 5 likely to touch down during the early June event.

Further bolstering speculation that the fifth generation Apple smartphone will be officially unveiled during the week long conference, and sparking rumours that iOS 5.0 will land at the same time contrary to recent speculation of a software delay, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing, Philip Schiller, announced: “At this year’s conference we are going to unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS.”

Whilst the annual Apple event will focus much of its effort and events on developers and the forwarding of the application market that the company has for so long dominated, many consumers will be looking to WWDC 2011 in hope of catching that first official glimpse of the iPhone 5, a device rumoured to be launching with a slimmer form factor, new metallic backed case with the antenna built into the Apple logo and in-built NFC technologies.
