The Apple iPhone 5 release date looks set to be just a few short months away - possibly being released on the same day as the iPad 3 - with Taiwanese suppliers already reportedly manufacturing parts for both devices
Foxconn, the company behind the overall assembly of Apple’s handheld devices, as well as a number of smaller component suppliers responsible for the likes of the units’ cameras, batteries and chassis, are all reported by tech blog Digitimes to have ramped up production ahead of a large order from the consumer electronics giant.
The report, which goes on to suggest that between 5 and 6 million iPhone 5 handsets will be shipped in the third quarter of the year -alongside an unknown number of iPad 3 devices - comes amid rumours that Apple’s iPhone 5 release date will fall in September, whilst hinting at a possible simultaneous iPad 3 arrival.
While there have been few reports of what new features any iPad 3 tablet will boast, the iPhone 5 has been a hot topic on the rumour mill for some months. It is believed the device will come complete with an A5 1GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities and a larger, 720p HD display. And in may last year, the rumour mill went into overdrive after Apple iPhone 5 photos were reportedly leaked online.
