Apple's iPad 3 has made an early appearance with a new concept design hinting at its form factor
With the iPad 2 barely a few months old attention is already turning to the future iPad 3 with a concept design for the third-generation Apple tablet offering an insight into the device’s possible iPhone 4 inspired aesthetic.
Morphing the current iPad 2’s slim-line form factor into an oversized iPhone 4-esque casing the new iPad 3 concept from designer Guilherme Schasiepen suggests Apple’s next tablet will sport a new curved-glass back like the iPhone 4 doing away with the current model’s brushed aluminium shell.
Whilst the current iPad 2 measures in at a meagre 8.8mm thick, Schasiepen suggests the next-generation model will be ever thinner at just 7.4mm slim whilst upgrading its currently poor quality camera to a 5-megapixel rear mounted offering with Full HD 1080p video recording capabilities.
The front-facing camera is also reportedly up for renewal with a FaceTime HD camera a claimed inclusion with stereo speakers and coveted Retina display also tipped for inclusion.
Whilst it is likely Apple will maintain its annual product cycle and update the iPad 2 to the iPad 3 next Spring, recent reports have suggested the Cupertino giant is to release an iPad HD or iPad 2 Plus alongside the iPhone 5 this September with an improved processor and increased storage capabilities.
