iPad gamers to go old school with the iCade
iPad touting gaming fans across the UK can rejoice, the iCade retro gaming machine first unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier in the year is to launch on British shores next month priced £79.99.
Set to be officially released via Firebox on June 22nd, the iCade, which looks like an old-school arcade machine whilst acting as an iPad dock that transforms the Apple tablet into a screen for the games unit, will allow gaming fans to enjoy 200 of history’s most memorable gaming classics with the benefit of vintage controls.
Compatible with both the original iPad and the iPad 2, the iCade features the traditional arcade array of joystick and button controls enabling gamers to forgo the tablet’s irksome touchscreen gaming controls and enjoy the arcade games as they were intended to be played.
Having docked their iPad with the iCade, users will need to download the existing Atari Greatest Hits apps for free with game packages available as in game purchases with packs of 4 titles costing 79p. The full selection of 200 games will set users back £7.99.
