HTC seeks Apple peace talks

Exec says the time has come to settle patent dispute

Ball now in Apple's court.

HTC is looking to sit down and settle its patent disputes with Apple. The two companies were both found to be infringing on each other’s intellectual property in separate rulings made earlier this month.

Winston Yung, HTC’s Chief Financial Officer, told Bloomberg, “We have to sit down and figure it out. We’re open to having discussions.” He added, “We are open to all sorts of solutions, as long as the solution and the terms are fair and reasonable. On and off we’ve had discussions with Apple, even before the initial determination came out.”

HTC was found to have breached two Apple patents by the International Trade Commissions. Conversely, Apple was also found to be in breach of two graphics patents, owned by S3 Graphics, which was recently bought by HTC.
