Despite having ceased production of the TouchPad, HP has confirmed that it is to continue supporting its recently deceased tablet with a series of over the air updates to be issued for the webOS device.
With Hewlett Packard recently confirming it was to end production of all webOS hardware with immediate effect the tech giant slashed the price of its outgoing webOS tablet with TouchPad stocks in the UK selling out as prices dropped to under £90.
"We expect that HP TouchPad owners can look forward to an over-the-air update that will enhance the platform and add functionality and a growing applications catalogue," a spokesperson for HP has confirmed.
"HP is fully committed to the ongoing support and service of customers who purchased webOS devices.”
Hewlett Packard confirmed that in the wake of the recent price cuts it had seen “huge spikes” in device activations and app downloads pledging “we plan to continue to investigate the best ways to leverage WebOS software and grow the applications."
