HP takes aim at Apple with TouchSmart IQ800 series
Get touchy-feely with your home PC
No prizes for guessing where HP is taking its inspiration from these days - although the TouchSmart IQ800 series is certainly no poor man's Mac.
Good for work, even better for play, the IQ800 packs a 25.5-inch full HD screen, Intel Core Duo processor and NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS HD graphics into the piano black gloss frame, still leaving room for a Blu-ray drive, hardware-encoded TV tuner, a built-in Pocket Media Drive and four digitally-amplified speakers. Yes, all that in a frame so slim you can wall-mount it.
And did we mention the TouchSmart software? Just a flick of the finger and you'll be perusing your playlists, waving into the webcam, scribbling on the screen or simply accessing the numerous functions on that Mac-like menu. No piles of spaghetti either - a wireless keyboard (with 'ambient' light), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth leaving just the power cable to trouble you. We're being quoted £1,499 for this bundle of beauty, expect to see it in November.
