HP's Folio 13 ultrabook has been unveiled both in the States and Down Under, going after Apple's MacBook AIR with a $400-lower asking price
Rocking a 13.3-inch screen, a backlit keyboard, a 128GB solid state hard drive and an Intel Core i5 processor, the Folio 13 will be going head-to-head with it's biggest competitor, the Apple MacBook AIR. But at just $900, it undercuts Apple's featherweight laptop by almost $400.
The downside? It's not quite as slight as it's number one competitor, measuring in at 18mm deep and weighing a feather under 1.5 kilos (compared to the current-gen MacBook Air's 17mm depth and 1.34 kilo weight). It's hardly an Earth-shattering difference, but devotees of all things slim and light may sniff at the slight extra chunkiness.
There's no word from HP as yet on when the Folio 13 will be gracing the laps of UK consumers, but with a US release ear-marked for December 7th, sometime early 2012 seems a safe bet.
