Hitachi dual-format DZ-BD10HA camcorder launches

High-def flicks to hard drive or Blu-ray disc

Take your pick from shooting to the 30GB hard drive or straight to a Blu-ray disc. And just in case neither is the right option for you, there's also an SDHC slot thrown in for good measure.

Full HD of course (1,920 x 1,080), with the reassuringly-chunky camera also featuring a 7 megapixel CMOS sensor, one-touch dubbing from HDD/SDHC to Blu-ray (or standard definition discs), endless on-board editing options, a face detection function and optical image stabilisation for those shaky hand moments.

Budding Spielbergs can get their hands on it from September in the US, priced around $999. No news of a Euro launch, but it should be here before Santa starts filling his sack.
