Has Microsoft Twitter confirmed Zune Phone?
'Hold off from buying an iPhone/Pre'
Ok, we're not saying this is set in stone, but a couple of recent posts on a Microsoft-related Twitter account have hinted at the possibility of a Zune phone, quite possibly as soon as June.
The posts from @officethemovie were typically cryptic, saying simply that 'June 2009 will be an important month for Zune lovers', followed by 'New product launch, that's all I'm allowed to say. Hold off from buying an iPhone/Pre. :)'. Obviously we're putting two and two together from that, which could make 4 or could make 5. But we're hopeful of something in the very near future.
A Zune Phone has been rumoured for years, long before the iPhone appeared in fact, so it's no surprise to see the story come round again. But this time, it's got an official connection to Microsoft itself, so, just maybe, this could be the time for its arrival.
But don't expect a nice, new shiny piece of hardware, Microsoft just might be throwing some software into the mix. A hybrid Windows Mobile and Zune platform could be feasible, giving a number of phone manufacturers the ability to create iPhone-rivalling handsets with an all-new, Microsoft-backed operating system. If there's any truth in the rumours, watch this space in the coming weeks.

Zune is rubbs. Windows mobile is rubbs. Zune Phone is clearly going to be pretty damned rubbish.
