The Guardian and Observer newspapers have been made available as digital downloads for Amazon’s Kindle device with the newspaper group offering the e-reader optimised editions on a 14-day free trial.
Landing alongside the likes of The Times which is already available as a digitalised Kindle edition the Guardian is available to download now alongside its self proclaimed moniker as “the best newspaper reading experience you can have on Kindle.”
Having announced earlier in the year that it is to adopt a ‘digital first’ attitude to its news production the leading newspaper group has now openly declared its digital intentions.
"This is the first of many mobile launches from Guardian News and Media over the next few months and comes at a time when we're seeing tremendous growth on all our mobile platforms," a Guardian spokesperson announced at the launch of the Kindle edition.
With the Guardian mobile site now accounting for 10 per cent of the company’s online traffic, the newspaper is preparing to launch iPad and Android applications in the near future with the Apple tablet offering reportedly already in its ‘testing phase’.
