Google Zeitgeist reveals 2012's top searches

Whitney Houston, Kate Middleton and Gangnam Style all make the list

Google's Zeitgeist list has revealed the UK's top search terms for 2012 with Whitney Houston emerging as the most searched-for person this year

Google's Zeitgeist list has thrown a spotlight on the UK's most searched for terms of 2012 with Whitney Houston - who died in February - at the top of the list of most searched-for people.

Unsurprisingly 2012's summer of sport also featured heavily, although Euro 2012 actually took the top spot from the Olympics, which nabbed second place on the list of overall trending searches 2012.

Music-wise, Psy's megahit Gagnam Style was far and away the most searched for song, eclipsing the likes of Beiber, Carly Rae and Adele's Bond theme Skyfall.

Apple's iPad 3 was the highest-searched for tech product of 2012 although music streaming service Netflix also came in at a very respectable number six on the list.
