A leaked memo suggests that Google will introduce a mobile payment system at an event in New York today, which will be called 'Google Wallet'.
The reveal comes courtesy of a memo from the Container Store, which claims Google will announce retailers who will be participating in the service that will enable users to walk into a store and pay for items with their smartphone.
A summer rollout by Google is also revealed, although the Container Store will states that it will be using the system on September 1st.
Google started trials of its NFC payment system earlier this year in the US and was reported to have got US bank Citigroup and MasterCard on board for the service.
With NFC tech already inbuilt into the Samsung Nexus S, Nokia and RIM have both vowed to implement the near field communication technology in future devices.
It is likely that Google Wallet will land in the US before anywhere else, but we'll be sure to keep you posted on any details of a UK launch.
