Google Search event set for September 8th

Google Goggles tipped to be top of the agenda

Big Google announcement on the same day as Apple iOS4.1 launches

Google is set to show off its latest 'technological innovation' at a special event scheduled to take place at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art tomorrow.

The 'Search On' invitations which have been sent out to journalists over the past few days tells guests:

"We invite you to join us on Wednesday, September 8, to share our latest technological innovation and to get an inside look at the evolution of Google search."

Speculation suggests the choice of event location could provide the biggest clue as to what we can expect to see, with Google Goggles, the company's image based search app a possible area of discussion.

The smartphone app which is currently only available on Android phones, is expected to launch for iOS before the end of the year, but there has yet to be an official announcement.

Interestingly, the event takes place on the same day Apple is expected to launch iOS 4.1, so we imagine the search engine giant will be hoping to steal some of the limelight from its fierce rival.
