Google’s mobile operating system Android continues to go from strength-to-strength with Andy Rubin revealing that a staggering 700,000 Android devices are now being activated on a daily basis.
Almost doubling the daily activations from just seven months ago Google revealed in May that 400,000 Android devices were being activated per day with November marking the activation of the 200 millionth Android powered product.
Making the announcement via the company’s newly launched social network Google+ Rubin got straight to the point declaring “There are now over 700,000 Android devices activated every day."
He added: "We count each device only once (ie, we don't count re-sold devices), and "activations" means you go into a store, buy a device, put it on the network by subscribing to a wireless service."
Android Ice Cream Sandwich
The latest Android release, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, has got off to a rocky start since its launch last month aboard the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Whilst an update rollout for the Nexus S had got underway Google recently pulled the plug stating it was to review feedback from those quick enough to jump on the software release.
