Google/Facebook discuss joint takeover of Twitter
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Google and Facebook have sat down with Twitter on several occasions to discuss the possibility of a takeover.
The report also sheds light on some of the numbers being thrown around during these talks, with some valuing Twitter at around the $10 billion (£6.3 billion) mark – significantly more than the $3.7 billion (£2.3 billion) valuation in December.
Despite radio silence from the three companies involved, the report concludes that the talks haven’t progressed very far, and Twitter’s executives are keen to keep the company independent from the other tech giants.
