Google Chrome OS rumoured to launch next week
Will Google's Chrome OS take on Windows 7?
Google’s hotly-anticipated Chrome OS could be available as early as next week, according to the latest rumours circulating the internet. The source of the rumour, is TechCrunch’s Michael Arrington, who says that a “reliable source” has told him that the Chrome OS will be available within a week.

The release of Google’s OS so close to the release of Windows 7 would surely stifle the already promising sales of Microsoft’s new baby. However, if a version of the Chrome OS is released it is unlikely to be accessible to a large number of people.
It will mostly likely be a version of the source code that developers have to build up themselves - much in the same way Mac users can build an early version of the Chrome browser.
According to Arrington, we can expect a dribble of OS releases for specific computers, as the Google team is hard at work making drivers for every possible piece of hardware. Google has previously said they are working with Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and Toshiba on the project.
We’ll let you decide whether or not the rumours are credible, but here’s hoping we see a new OS soon.
