Following the futuristic tech’s unveiling last month, Google co-founder and CEO Larry Page has showcased a pair of Google Project Glass glasses to a UK audience for the first time.

Speaking at the London-based Google Zeitgeist event yesterday, Page took to the stage in a prototype pair of the augmented reality specs that are to allow users to receive heads-up information on their surroundings as well as being capable of syncing with smartphones to give message alerts and calendar reminders on the move.

Although donning a very early prototype pair of Google Glass eyewear meant the Google CEO wasn’t able to make use of the full array of features outlined as heading to the technology, Page was able to use a physical button on the side of the device to capture a picture of his audience.

"These are obviously Google Glass, it's only Glass because it's only on one side," Google bigwig Page announced to the UK audience. He added: "It's still in a bit of an early stage but I'm really excited to be able to have one. And to have it working. … It doesn't yet show me all of your names, but I'm really glad that you're all here."
