New celebratory Google Doodle rings in 13 years since the search engine first hit our browsers before going on to dominate the smartphone and tablet markets with Android
Search giant and all round tech behemoth Google is celebrating its 13th birthday with the start of its teenage years rung in with a new party-themed Google Doodle.
Adorning the now famous Google logo with a variety of party hats, balloons, presents and the obligatory cake with 13 candles, today’s doodle commemorates the 13 years since founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin first officially launched Google.
Although the pair created their first search engine back in 1996, it wasn’t until two years later that the now billionaires hit the web following filling for incorporation on September 4th 1998 and registering the Google.com domain on September 15th.
Since launching as a search engine Google has gone on to dominate the tech world with the company’s mobile operating system Android taking control of the smartphone market in recent years. Last week Google opened its Facebook rival Google+ to a global audience for the first time.
