Google Books app hits UK Android Market

Bringing millions of e-books to your Android handset right now

It's been a while coming, but digital bookworms of an Android bent can now download all the e-books they want, courtesy of the new Google Books app. It's just hit the Android Market, and it's completely free, so head over there now and get your read on, as we believe literary types like to say.

As long as your handset is Android 2.1 or later, you can get the app now and start downloading. A Books section has also been added to Android Market, to go along with the Apps and Games.

A statement from Google reads: "Readers in the UK now have access to the world's largest e-books collection, with hundreds of thousands of e-books for sale - from major UK publishers like Hachette, Random House and Penguin - as well as more than two million public domain e-books for free."
