After revealing its latest assault on social networking Google + will be making its mark on Gmail and Calendar.
Google is planning a major design overhaul of both Gmail and Google Calendar after it was revealed through their blog that they'll be applying the same design ethos of Google + to all of their services.
Sporting a simpler more spartan look the new Gmail interface is very similar to the old but certainly looks less cluttered, if that was even possible.
According to the official Gmail blog the reasoning behind this change was the feeling that after having added so many new features to the service it needed some cleaning up.
"Over the years, adding countless features to Gmail has made it an increasingly powerful communication hub, but along the way the interface has also become more cluttered and complex."
While only available as a simple beta theme this new look will be rolling out fully in the coming months, with Google Calendar getting an automatic update in the coming weeks.
