The BAFTA Video Games Awards nominees have been announced and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is leading the pack with 7 nominations.

Call of Duty: Black Ops and Heavy Rain follow with 6 nominations each. Then Mass Effect 2 trails with 5 nominations, and LIMBO and Super Mario Galaxy 2 with 4 nominations.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood has received nods for Action, Artistic Achievement, Multiplayer, Technical Innovation, Use of Audio, Best Game and Gameplay. The new "Social Network" category has nominated Bejeweled Blitz, Farmerama, FIFA Superstars, My Empire, Zoo Mumba, and Zuma Blitz.

The Game Award of 2010 shortlist was compiled by a pannel of gaming journalists and enthusiasts, and the winner will be voted in by the public. The list includes Call of Duty: Black Ops, Dance Central, FIFA 11, Halo: Reach, Heavy Rain, LIMBO, Mass Effect 2, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Red Dead Redemption and Super Mario Galaxy 2 and votes are now open to the public on the official website.
