Fujitsu Siemens introduces updated Amilo Pi 3540 notebook
Dragged kicking and screaming into the land of Centrino 2
Still not decided on that new laptop? That good, because a new model is launching pretty much everyday (if not every hour), with the Fujitsu Amilo Pi 3540 notebook hovering uncomfortably between the budget and traditional market.
There are three big selling points here - that uber-stylish black and white paint job, the almost inevitable introduction of the Intel Centrino 2 processor and if you listen to the Fujitsu-Siemens blurb, some high-definition credentials. The latter is via that Intel processor, 4GB of memory and the NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS graphics, which all means improved processing of high-definition contents, with up to 90% faster encoding of HD videos and up to 300% improved graphics performance. Shame it doesn't have a Blu-ray drive in there then, eh Fujitsu?
Other features of note? Well, not really that much with a 15.4-inch screen, spill-proof keyboard, Wi-Fi, a 15-in-1 card reader and an eSATA port heading things up. If you can't control your excitement, you can get our hands on the Amilo Pi 3540 from August, with prices quoted at £699 for a basic set-up. Or you can just wait for tomorrow's big laptop launch.
