Fuel prices, pah! Get a gravity powered car
Volvo has tested a concept car that doesn't use a drop of petrol or even have an engine (it does need to be on little hill though).
Sounds very Flintstones, but Volvo's new Extreme Gravity Car is a little more high-tech than that. As the name suggests it uses Sir Isaac Newton's fave force to power it, propelling it up to speeds of 54mph.
The streamlined ride was the fastest car to take part in the recent Extreme Gravity Competition held in California, which saw other automotive heavyweights such as Audi and Bentley competing. As well as boasting an air-slicingly aerodynamic design, Volvo's winning entry also features a full roll cage and effective braking system to ensure safety. However, can't see it hitting streets any time soon. Or make that ever.
