Free Xbox LIVE Gold access this weekend from Microsoft

Premium online service goes gratis for three days

MS aiming to show Silver subscribers what they're missing

Microsoft has jumped on the Black Friday bandwagon, gifting Xbox LIVE Gold for free over the weekend, starting today. The gratis online content will be handed over to Silver members, who MS is hoping to win over with a showcase of Gold-only features.

The benefits of a gold subscription include access to the Sky Player (if you’re a subscriber) and, crucially, online multiplayer, but the focus over the weekend will be the newly imported Zune services, with music and videos from the likes of Lady Gaga, Rihanna and the Black Eyed Peas going for nowt.

Currently, a one-month rolling Gold subscription to Xbox LIVE costs £5.99, while a year’s access costs £40. Will you be soaking up the free goldness this weekend? Let us know on the T3 Twitter feed.
