First Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 DLC release detailed

Following in the footsteps of the recently released Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand DLC Activision has confirmed the first COD: Modern Warfare 3 DLC

Having missed out on the All Format Gaming Chart Christmas top spot developer Infinity Ward has revealed it is to start the New Year with a selection of additional COD content with the first Call of Duty: Modern 3 DLC release confirmed.

Whilst the bitter Call of Duty rival Battlefield 3 favours PS3 gamers with week long DLC exclusivity Activision’s COD franchise looks set to continue its Xbox 360 favouritism with the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 DLC release to hit Xbox Live on January 24th.

"The way we're doing downloadable content this year is unlike we've ever done before,” Infinity Ward’s Creative Strategist Robert Bowling said. “Not only in how you can get it - in content drops or choose for the collection - but also the type of content you're getting.”

Whilst the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 DLC has yet to be named or fully detailed Bowling offered a few tantalising hints as to what fans of the FPS release can expect stating “We're doing more than just maps. We're going to do Spec Ops missions and a variety of things that players have never seen before.”

Landing more than a month after the first Battlefield 3 DLC, the Modern Warfare 3 downloadable content pack will be available to Elite subscribers first with a full array of availability dates to be made available at the turn 2012.

"Today we informed the Call of Duty Elite Premium community that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Elite Content Season will officially kick off on January 24 for Xbox users,” an official Activision spokesperson said. “We'll have more details about the entire 2012 MW3 Content Season in early January, so stay tuned for updates."
