Official release tomorrow, but early adopters can snag it now.
Firefox 5 out now
Mozilla has released Firefox 5, unleashing a release candidate over the weekend ahead of the updated browser’s official launch tomorrow, 21 June. Versions for Mac, Linux and Windows are up for grabs on Mozilla’s FTP server.
While the update is more of a tweak than a major overhaul, it does give users the chance to easily stop advertisers tracking them from site to site. On top of that, there’s now WebM support and bug fixes galore.
Mozilla also says updates will become more frequent, as it looks to emulate Google Chrome’s incessant releases. Word is that Firefox 6 and Firefox 7 will be good to go by the end of 2011.
