Facebook Like button heading to apps

Mobile add-ons set for some Facebook love

Move sees world's favourite social network going truly mobile.

Facebook Like buttons are set to start landing in mobile apps soon. That’s according to a top exec at the social network, who’s told a gathering of mobile big cheeses that the software behind the buttons is going mobile.

Speaking at MobileBeat 2010, Facebook’s Eric Tseng said Open Graph, which allows websites to add Like buttons to news stories and other content, is now heading to phone extras as well.

That means developers will be able to stick a Like button into their apps, letting you lot give them thumbs up in a very public manner. Tseng also said there’d be money-making opportunities, with the chance for more location aware advertising. Just giving apps we like the mark approval will do for us.

There’s no news on when Facebook Like will land on different apps, but Tseng did say Android and iOS developers would be able to get involved.
