A new feature in the updated version is Facebook Places - a location-based service somewhat like FourSquare and GoWalla. Users can check in to places within a 2-kilometre radius of their location and their friends on Facebook are able to see where they are.

Users can comment or like where people check in or tag their friends at different places. Users will be able to see a Facebook Places icon on the top bar.

Apart from this new feature, the old functions of updating your profile, poking your friends and sending messages remain. Other changes in this version include viewing your messages in a list, searching Facebook for people and places and redesign of the friends list.

In addition, while Facebook chat isn't available on this release, it is touted to arrive soon in a future version update.
