Social giant Facebook and Budweiser have teamed up to broadcast the opening FA Cup tie live via the social media site
Social networking sites are to play a key role in the new football season with the opening game of this year’s FA Cup to be broadcast live via Facebook.
With a user base of more than 700 million people Facebook is to mark a new milestone this Friday, August 19th, in playing host to its first live FA Cup match as minnows of the sport Ascot United and Wembley F.C. go head-to-head in the opening match of the championship.
As a lead partner of the FA Cup Budweiser will broadcast the cup-tie live via the official Budweiser UK Facebook page with kick off scheduled for 7: 45pm.
Speaking on the world first, Iain Newell, Marketing Director of Budweiser UK said the company “is committed to bringing the world’s most prestigious knockout competition closer to the fans.”
He added: “What better way to demonstrate this than by broadcasting the very first kick to a global audience via Facebook. This is the first time a FA Cup tournament fixture has been broadcast live on the social network, which is great news for football fans and clubs alike.”
