Rumours are hotting up that Facebook is getting ready to announce a video chat service powered by Skype.
Details of how the service will work are sketchy, but it's thought the Facebook/Skype project will include a desktop component, after Facebook's Seattle offices started interviewing for a new desktop software division.
The service will reportedly be launched at an invite only event at the Facebook offices in Palo Alto, California, on Wednesday July 6th. The invites, an example of which you can see top right, don't explicitly confirm a video chat service, but feature a new message icon that we and the rest of the interweb reckon adds some proper weight to the speculation.
If true, then the video chat service will be announced just days after the Google+ advert which showed integrated video chat to be a key component of the would-be Facebook competitor (video below).
