Eye-Fi wireless SD card hits UK this month
The teeny/tiny wi-fi-enabled memory card goes on sale in the UK from October 19
Eye-Fi, the astonishly simple little idea that's very, very clever and futuristic indeed, will finally start appearing in UK shops later this month.
The standard SD cards with their built-in wi-fi data transfer powers will hit the UK from October 19, in three separate models, each offering different ways to bore people with your stupid cat photographs and save your stupid cat photographs for posterity. Here's what you get.
Eye-Fi Home Video is the entry level model, giving you 4GB of storage space and everything you need to wirelessly dump your snaps and video onto your computer via your home network. This one comes in at £49.99.
For an extra £20 you may upgrade to the Eye-Fi Share Video, which contains automated tools to transfer files to your computer - and also to Flickr, Facebook, YouTube and numerous other places where people like to show off their lives, possessions, clothing and photography skills.
Finally, the £119 Eye-Fi Pro adds geo-tagging, support for RAW files and ad-hoc uploading, so you're able to connect directly to computers without having access to a router.
All three flavours (WARNING: DO NOT SWALLOW) offer 4GB of storage space, arrive in the UK on October 19 and will be available via Amazon, Apple, Computer Warehouse and Dabs.
